Saving Our Inland Waters

The February 17th meeting of the Eastern Sussex Democrats was informative and vital. Chris Bason of the Center for the Inland Bays updated attendees on amendments to the policy regarding bufferes around new construction being considered by the Sussex County Council. In addition to explaining the key points of the relevant ordinance, Chris provided the important scientific grounding behind keeping proper buffers around the numerous resiudential and commercial developments being considered by the council. The proposed amendments to the current ordinance contain many excepotions that could still allow severe damage to our inland waters, 87% of which are polluted by runoff and waste, and Chris urged our members to provide input to the council in its deliberations. Education and activism in action!
