Eastern Sussex Democrats

Who We Are

Eastern Sussex Democrats is a membership organization open to all registered Democrats and dedicated to advancing Democratic principles, policies, and priorities. Eastern Sussex Democrats will work to elect Democrats at all levels of government with a priority on offices in and/or representing Sussex County.

WHAT WE DO TO FULFILL OUR MISSION

​

We support local, state, and federal candidates by:

  • Contributing the maximum legal amount to candidates

  • Holding candidate forums and debates

  • Publicly endorsing candidates

 

We inform our membership about current political topics through:

  • Monthly meetings with public officials and policy experts

  • Social media and webpage updates

  • Special events

 

We pursue policy priorities using:

  • Advocacy

  • Community engagement

  • Communications platforms

A Message From Our President

All of us involved with Eastern Sussex Democrats believe that we can improve the lives of Delawareans and those beyond our state boundaries by supporting and advocating for a core set of values that defines the Democratic Party: Social and Economic Justice, Racial Equity, Environmental Stewardship, and Human Rights.

 Through our community engagement and support of Democratic candidates, we seek to:

​

  • Secure adequate housing and health care for all

  • Aggressively address the climate crisis

  • Restore environmental health

  • Expand and protect voting rights

  • Redress economic inequity

  • Reform immigration policies and promote the humane treatment of immigrants

  • Redress racial inequities and promote full racial equity

  • Promote and protect civil, social, and political rights of all regardless of race, religion, age, ethnicity, gender or sexual identity

 

Our current advocacy activities focus on conditions in Sussex County and the state of Delaware as appropriate.  Our members are working hard to secure adequate housing and health care for all members of our community and to bring more voices into the political process through voter registration.

We can do more if you will join us.  Become a member.  Attend our meetings.  Volunteer. Contribute, if you can.
